Landscape Partnerships (LP) are a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) grant programme for the conservation and enjoyment of areas of distinctive landscape character.
Celebrated by artists, archaeologists, scholars and writers, the name ‘Cranborne Chase’ evokes an ancient landscape with a rich range of amazing natural, built and cultural assets. This is a dramatic, distinctive and historic chalk landscape where ‘voices in the landscape’ can still be heard. With a sense of remoteness, tranquillity, mystery and dark night skies, Cranborne Chase continues to capture many people’s hearts and minds.
The Cranborne Chase Landscape Partnership Scheme Area focuses on the traditional heart of the medieval royal hunting ground, and the river valley to the north known locally as the Chalke Valley. There have always been historical, natural and social links between the valley and the Chase downland which the Landscape Partnership scheme will explore and reinforce.
A broad range of activities will help individuals, communities and new audiences enjoy, conserve, enhance, understand and learn about the unique heritage of this area will only bolster its role as the beating heart of the wider Cranborne Chase.
We are compiling an exciting portfolio of projects that, once approved, would provide a £2.5m programme of activities from 2019 to 2024 to help conserve the area, to engage people within and outside of it to enjoy and play a role in celebrating and safeguarding its unique qualities into the future.
